Heat Stroke
Given the high temperatures recorded in recent days, the Buenos Aires government, through Ministry of Health and Emergency Secretariat under the Ministry Justice and Security, recommends taking the necessary precautions to prevent heatstroke.Keep in mind that heat stroke can affect people of any age, but those at greatest risk are children, who show no symptoms easily, and those over 65 years. First
headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion, convulsions and loss of consciousness, skin flushed, hot and dry, breathing and weak pulse, and high body temperature (between 41 and 42 degrees Celsius), you must act as follows:
- Move person in the shade, a cool and quiet. Do to keep your head a little high. Try
- refresh clothes wetting, applying ice to the head, give him drink cool water or a little salt, and medical assistance.
- Increase fluid intake without waiting for thirst to maintain adequate hydration.
- No excess sun exposure, or middle of the day (between 11 and 17 hours).
- Avoid alcoholic beverages or sugary.
- Avoid large meals, eat vegetables and fruits.
- Reduce physical activity.
- Wear lightweight, loose fitting, light colored, hat and sunglasses.
- Stay in ventilated or conditioned.
- Remember that there is no drug treatment against heat stroke and only the classical methods mentioned above, can prevent and counter it.
